Music has always been a big part of my life.. I grew up listening to Country Music, as that is what my family always played on the radio. As I grew older, going to church and singing in the choir, gave me a different desire in my heart. I still like country music, and traditional church music, but grew to love Country Bluegrass Gospel Music. As our lives sometimes don't always work out the way we dream, my life led me in a different direction than pursuing music. I don't dare presume that I would have made it in Nashville, or anything like that.. but it would have been nice to make that dream become a reality! ..
After many years of just living my life, I met and married a wonderful man, with a wonderful family. After he passed away in 2008, his sister Judy, and her best friend Patty, helped me through the worst time of my life... They wrote poetry and I sang and played the keyboard, so we combined our talents and formed the informal group The Country Three (named by Judy's granddaughter, Brianna). They would write poetry and I would come up with the melody, play it on the keyboard, and sing the lead part.. Judy sang alto. I also dabbled a little in writing poetry, though I mostly write songs. Did I mention that Patty lived in Arkansas and Judy and I live in Texas.. We would put our parts on the song, recorded in Audacity on the computer .. then we would send it to Patty and she would sing her part and send it back... that is how we recorded our songs for several years... Patty now lives in Louisiana, and Judy travels around with her husband for his jobs, so I do a lot of the recording myself now.
We met a gentle poet on a Christian site on the Internet, back in 2008.. His name is Colin Moffett, from Portglenone, Ireland, and he has written some beautiful poetry. What I love to do is take words and make them into a song. He wrote a couple of poems for Patty, aka Mountain Wildflower, and I put a tune to each of them. We sang them and sent them to him.. He was putting a CD together and added Sweet Wildflower to his CD.. He sent each of us a copy... I am a very appreciative person whenever anyone does something for me, so I took one of his songs, and put my own tune to it and sent it to him, as a surprise. He loved it and a Pastor friend of his heard it and asked if he could play it on his radio broadcast, which Colin happily said, "Yes"! .. When I heard it played, and the lovely things he said about it, I felt very happy and proud to have been associated with Colin's beautiful words. We have now collaborated on close to 20 of Colin's poem/songs. .. I compose the tune and music, and do the vocals. We have had a few of them played on the radio in Ireland .. A dear friend and presenter, Kaye Kilpatrick, from Shine 102.4 FM in Bainbridge, UK, and Ms. Helen and Elizabeth, presenters on Zion's Way, on Radio Star Country - 981mw . Ireland's finest in Gospel and Country. We are currently working on another CD to be finished around the first part of 2013..
Pray that everyone has a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year! .. Follow your dreams .. you'll never know what can happen unless you at least try! ... Many blessings to everyone!
